You Need a Break!

Busy?  Yeah, me too....swamped!!  Wrapping up Christmas commissions that have kept me busy for months.  Couldn't sleep last night worth a toot and am paying for it now.  Still have presents to buy and wrap, cookies to bake, grocery lists to make....you know the drill, right?  

But for just a minute, slow down.  Put down the list, the credit card, the scotch tape, the spatula and take a deep breath, and remember that all that *stuff* is just absolutely not Christmas.  

Remember the hymn...."It Came Upon the Midnight Clear".  One of my favorites because it could have been written this morning....verses 3 especially....

"O ye, beneath life's crushing load,

Whose forms are bending low,

Who toil along the climbing way,

With painful steps and slow,

Look now, for glad and golden hours

Come swiftly on the wing,

O rest beside the weary road,

And hear the angels sing."

.....can you hear them?

Here Comes Santa Claus! *SOLD*

When I started this little painting, I didn't quite expect his expression to come out a little happy, a little bewildered, but still with a twinkle in his eye, but I'm glad it did. It's probably the way most of look about now! Merry Christmas, everyone! Don't let the hectic side of things keep you from seeing the beauty around you...keep that twinkle!!

Here we go! Tomorrow is December 1st and the race begins for me! I like to wait until after Thanksgiving before I get started with Christmas, but feel slightly panicked that I haven't done anything yet. Oh, well - I guess I work better under pressure! Here's hoping you have a great holiday! If you're looking for some gifts - I've painted several Santas and they're at the Museum Store at the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts. Also, Stonehenge Gallery is having a small works show that opens on Thursday, Dec. 2nd!

I had a wonderful Thanksgiving and now my tree is up and I've made a dent in my shopping! I have lots of painting to do, so I wanted to have my Christmas "chores" done early!
