Happy Easter! *SOLD*

"Break Forth"
36"x24"
Oil on Canvas

This joyful Eastertide,
away with sin and sorrow!
My Love, the Crucified,
hath sprung to life this morrow!

Had Christ, that once was slain,
ne'er burst his three-day prison,
our faith had been in vain;
but now is Christ arisen,
arisen, arisen, arisen!

Death's flood hath lost its chill,
since Jesus crossed the river:
Lover of souls, from ill
my passing soul deliver,

My flesh in hope shall rest,
and for a season slumber,
till trump from east to west
shall wake the dead in number.

Had Christ, that once was slain,
ne'er burst his three-day prison,
our faith had been in vain;
but now is Christ arisen,
arisen, arisen, arisen!

HAPPY EASTER!

"In Thy Pleasant Pastures" *SOLD*

"In Thy Pleasant Pastures"
20"x16"
Oil on Canvas

Savior, like a shepherd lead us,
much we need thy tender care;
in thy pleasant pastures feed us,
for our use thy folds prepare.
Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus!
Thou hast bought us, thine we are.
Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus!
Thou hast bought us, thine we are.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

"Spring Things"

"Spring Things"
5"x7"
Oil on Board

St. Patrick's Weeklong Green Painting Celebration is almost over and today's entry celebrates spring!  We have a gorgeous spring day here and to me the sight of strawberries and asparagus are a sure sign that spring is here!  So, the beautiful green stalks of asparagus with their touches of yellow ochre and purple are my "green thing" and one of my "spring things" for today!

"The Grape Escape"

"The Grape Escape"
8"x6"
Oil On Board

Little rascals....you pull out your grapes to wash 'em or eat 'em and there's always a few that go rolling around on you!  What I love about these little renegades - other than their tastiness - is their lovely transluscence.  It is a challenge to capture in paint and is an intense exercise in seeing.  A good way to s-t-r-e-t-c-h your eyes, your comprehension!

"Irish Eyes" aka "Katie" *SOLD*

"Katie"  *SOLD*
7"x5"
Oil on Board

Little Katie and I have something in common....green eyes!  The great thing about green eyes is that if you forget to wear green on St. Patrick's Day (but, really, who does that??  Right??), you can always rely on your eyes to keep you from getting pinched!

Just a touch of green today for the St. Patrick's Day painting, but just a touch is all you need sometimes!

"Limelight"

"Limelight"
6"x6"
Oil on Board

Continuing to go green this week in anticipation of St. Patrick's Day!  Strawberries are the hands-down winner for making the studio smell great, but limes are close!

I really am fascinated by color and light and focusing intently on one thing - whether it's a specific color or painting reflections or glass or whatever - has been an enormous help for me.  Every painting is an experiment, a new lesson, a new way of seeing....what a great profession!  It's never boring!

"Petal Pushers"

"Petal Pushers"
14"x11"
Oil on Canvas

Did a little larger painting today because I just couldn't resist painting that big bunch of daisies!  I painted just one daisy yesterday, but they just seem to be bursting with "spring" and I just couldn't let them go without painting them!  See the limes?  They'll be tomorrow's victim!

Anyway, the daisies really have such a green cast to them and the centers are actually a gold-green.  I love them and am always reminded of Meg Ryan in "You've Got Mail".  Didn't she say that "they're just so happy"?  I totally agree!

"Daisy May"

"Daisy May"
8"x6"
Oil on Board

Celebrating St. Patrick's Day all week long in my studio by painting green things!  I really enjoyed the daily painting series back in January, so I thought I would try and introduce something similar on a monthly basis....just not EVERY day!!
