After many requests for paintings of cows lately, I decided to post my most recent which is now for sale at the Montgomery Museum Gift Shop.

Every time someone asks me about cow paintings, my husband and I laugh about the Will Ferrell skit on Saturday Night Live..."More cowbell!"....for those of you who have seen it! You can find it on YouTube if you want to take a look!

This one is titled "Oreo" and lives on Wallahatchee Road in Pike Road, Alabama.

I had a wonderful Thanksgiving and now my tree is up and I've made a dent in my shopping! I have lots of painting to do, so I wanted to have my Christmas "chores" done early! This little 4"x4" painting of Santa will be at Stonehenge Gallery - show opens this Thursday, December 3rd! 11 artists will have small works available for $150 or less!

Iron Bowl Day!! *SOLD*

This is a great big day around here!! My family is all about Bama - but I have to pull for my alma mater - Auburn! It makes it more fun to have a little football tension in the air, anyway!! This painting was done a few years ago - obviously after a victory on the Plains and Toomer's Corner was appropriately embellished!

Counting My Blessings *SOLD*

A summertime painting entitled "Curb Market Color", but I wanted to post it now because it embodies so much of what I'm thankful for! The beauty and bounty of the earth, food on our table, jobs, our country, the seasons. Our curb market is so full of memories for me, too - trips with my grandparents, my mother, my sisters - such happy times!

"Warm Glow" Takes a Trip! *SOLD*

Should've mentioned this on the blog earlier in the month, but I was excited that this painting ended up in Coastal Living magazine's Idea House in Sunset Harbor, NC! You can see it (with the aid of a magnifying glass!) on page 8 of the November issue! It's on the end table, behind a plant...even so, I'm happy about it!! The title is "Warm Glow". The house was decorated by Montgomerys' Phillip Sides. Check it out on line - it's beautiful!

The Quiet of Yellowleaf Creek *SOLD*

This painting will be auctioned on November 19th in Birmingham to benefit the Alabama Freshwater Land Trust - a great organization whose mission is the "acquisition and stewardship of lands that enhance water quality and preserve open space." This painting was done from photos that I took at Yellowleaf Creek in Shelby County - a beautiful spot!

Golden Time

At last - cool weather & sunshine! This backlit tree was painted last fall at Tannehill in North Alabama. I can't wait until we get some fall color in the trees....what a wonderful time of year!

While I love the bright yellows & oranges of the leaves, I equally love the purple shadows against those beautiful brights!

I have my cadmiums ready...come on, leaves - I'm ready for the show!

Backlit Buttermilk *SOLD*

Hazy late afternoon summer sunshine lit this little cow from behind and made me want to paint it...backlit buttermilk.

Art Trek!

Art Trek is today from 1:00-4:00! Start off at Regions Bank in downtown Montgomery at 12:00 for the Montgomery Art Guild show. This is one of the paintings I have on exhibit at that show..."Summer Solstice".

I hope this painting reflects the end of day feel in downtown Montgomery - done from a photo taken at 5:00 on Washington Ave. This painting is on exhibit with others at my new show at Stonehenge Gallery. It's a joint show with Melissa Tubbs. She has fabulous pen & ink and pencil drawings on exhibit! The show will be up until early October. Hope you can stop by!

A few weeks ago, my in-laws lost their dear dog, Benji. Today, they'll pick up two pug puppies - Rhett & Scarlett. Yes, they're from Georgia...

What will they do with TWO pugs?? I can't think about that today, I'll think about that tomorrow...

Valentine

Happy Valentines Day!! I painted this at Nan Cunningham's studio this past Wednesday - what fun!! Check out her website! If you haven't been, I highly recommend it for a memorable time. My husband went with me and painted one, too! If he gives me permission :), I'll post his!

Many Mansions *SOLD*

Billowy clouds most often make me think of Heaven. I painted this shortly after the death of my dear Aunt Mim last month. She has a home in one of the many mansions and that gives me great comfort ... and comfort to know that a place is prepared for me, too!

"Get Real, My Boy" *SOLD*

I love Valentines Day! It's my birthday, but I think I would love it anyway even if it weren't! Remember the way Valentine candy boxes used to be - loaded with lace and flowers - the drugstore aisles were a sea of pink and red and white fluff? I loved even the tacky ones. Here's a little reminder of a sweet Valentine simplicity - conversation hearts. Painted a few years ago, the hearts I picked at random just happened to say "Get Real, My Boy".

Cicada's Song *SOLD*

Just a note to say that this painting, "Cicada's Song", is currently on exhibit at the Alabama State Council on the Arts Gallery! The gallery is located on the first floor of the RSA/Regions Tower in downtown Montgomery and the exhibit will be open until mid-March. I hope you can stop in if you are in the area!
The painting was done of a location near Marler Road/Highway 80 in East Montgomery County. I hope it captures the feel of the late summer evening that it was and maybe you can hear the cicadas even on this cold night in January!
