Valentine

Happy Valentines Day!! I painted this at Nan Cunningham's studio this past Wednesday - what fun!! Check out her website! If you haven't been, I highly recommend it for a memorable time. My husband went with me and painted one, too! If he gives me permission :), I'll post his!

Many Mansions *SOLD*

"In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you."- John 14:2

Billowy clouds most often make me think of Heaven. I painted this shortly after the death of my dear Aunt Mim last month. She has a home in one of the many mansions and that gives me great comfort ... and comfort to know that a place is prepared for me, too!

"Get Real, My Boy" *SOLD*

I love Valentines Day! It's my birthday, but I think I would love it anyway even if it weren't! Remember the way Valentine candy boxes used to be - loaded with lace and flowers - the drugstore aisles were a sea of pink and red and white fluff? I loved even the tacky ones. Here's a little reminder of a sweet Valentine simplicity - conversation hearts. Painted a few years ago, the hearts I picked at random just happened to say "Get Real, My Boy".

Cicada's Song *SOLD*

Just a note to say that this painting, "Cicada's Song", is currently on exhibit at the Alabama State Council on the Arts Gallery! The gallery is located on the first floor of the RSA/Regions Tower in downtown Montgomery and the exhibit will be open until mid-March. I hope you can stop in if you are in the area!
The painting was done of a location near Marler Road/Highway 80 in East Montgomery County. I hope it captures the feel of the late summer evening that it was and maybe you can hear the cicadas even on this cold night in January!

Sunshine on a Stem *SOLD*

Just a little sunshine for you - this painting was offered for sale yesterday at the annual bazaar held by St. John's Episcopal church here in Montgomery. I love sunflowers and the way the blooms follow the sun's light - bowing their heads as the sun goes down.

Kat

Here's another member of the family - my precious niece, Katherine. We call her Kat. I have such a large family that I could be busy forever painting their portraits! This one I did as a monochrome exercise. It was harder than I thought it would be, but a lot of fun and I like the way it turned out!

Catching Up!

Well, it's been a long time since my first post! I hope to do better! I appreciate the comment on my first post and it is exciting to know that people have found it!

Today I am posting a portrait I worked on in the late summer. It's of my sister, BJ, and her daughter, Rebecca - two of the sweetest people in the world. In these days of gloom and doom news reports, I can always count on my sweet Rebecca to make me smile.

First Day of Blog

At last - I have set up a blog to post artwork! I would rather paint than just about anything and I can't wait to share paintings on my blog.

I admire so many artists who blog - Karen Jurick, Linda Blondheim, Carole Marine and Duane Keiser are some of my favorites. They are inspirations to me!

This painting is a recent one done of a couple of cows I saw. I loved the way the reflected light hit underneath their necks. The little one seems to say "What?", so that's what I named it!

Thanks for looking at my posts!
